Barocco Astrale is a site-specific immersive installation created for the dome of the planetarium at Città della Scienza in Naples. Through a 360° video projection system, the works of Luca Giordano are digitally reimagined and animated within an enveloping space where light and sound merge into a single sensory experience.
The project employs spherical video mapping techniques, three-dimensional processing, and an original sound composition that interweaves Baroque music, electronics, and cosmic frequencies recorded from deep space. The planetarium dome thus transforms into a fluid dimension where Giordano's painting expands, moves, and breathes, becoming luminous energy and motion.
The Baroque figures dissolve like constellations, colours become vibrations, forms move to the rhythm of the stars. The viewer is immersed in a cosmic landscape where the Baroque meets the universe, and where vision becomes experience, contemplation, and an inner journey.
“Barocco Astrale is a bridge between art and science, between past and future, between matter and light.”
