AKEFALOS

THE VIDEOMAPPING INSTALLATION FOR THE ITALIAN EXCELLENCE GALA & AWARD

AKEFALOS CARTOLINA 1015 2.jpg

Time has run out.

Human beings have lost their environmental consciousness and created an insuperable barrier between themselves and Nature. He has forgotten his identity and his origins. Forests are being cleared, and oceans are "drowning" in plastics.

AKEFALOS is a time mirror; it is the short story of the wonder and fragility of an underwater world that, in a few decades, has found itself a victim of the atrocities of an increasingly powerful and space-hungry polluting presence. Thus, what was once a submerged dimension made of HARMONY of shapes and sounds is now a claustrophobic place populated by dissonant sounds and beings modified by environmental alterations and destined for death.

It is no coincidence that the title AKEFALOS, a Greek term meaning "headless," was chosen. In music, it is a rhythm that begins with a pause that falls in the intense tempo of the beat, which is why it is also called a "decapitated thetic rhythm." In the installation, everything is music, and everything follows a musicality and circularity, from HARMONIC to DISTORTED. Marine beings are, in this case, performers of a magnificent natural composition that is precisely "decapitated" by man's hand.

The installation's illustrations are all done in marker on paper, while the original music is composed with careful research of sounds necessary to develop immersive harmonies and disharmonies.

March 22 marked WORLD WATER DAY, an anniversary established by the United Nations in 1992 and provided for within the directives of Agenda 21, a program of actions concerning the main environmental challenges of our century: climate change, air pollution, and the exploitation of non-renewable energies.

The main objective of the day was to raise awareness among the global community to take concrete action to protect water, rethinking it as a critical resource for the planet's sustainable development. To celebrate this initiative, Imaginarium and AKEFALOS were guests at the Future Food Institute's "No Planet B: The Trades of Sustainability" event at the Scuderia spaces in Bologna.
