A SWEET SILENCE IN CREMONA

visual art for scenography

In the spring of 2022, the Ponchielli Theater in Cremona, together with the Center for contemporary opera in New York, will produce and host an original opera entitled A SWEET SILENCE IN CREMONA, with music composed by Roberto Scarcella Perino and libretto by Mark Campbell.

Imaginarium realizes the entire illustration and animation project within the set design by Tommaso Lagattola, who also designs the costumes. The direction is by Cecilia Ligorio.

A unique and curious event inspires a SWEET SILENCE IN CREMONA in Cremona in January 2019. During the implementation of the Banca del Suono project, the streets around the Violin Museum and the G. Arvedi Auditorium were closed to allow the registration and creation of a database of notes of four masterpieces from the Museum's collection.

The event attracted the interest of the international press, including the New York Times. It is precisely from this curious article that the American librettist Mark Campbell, winner of a Pulitzer Prize and a Grammy Award, and the Italian composer Roberto Scarcella Perino have created an opera set in Cremona during the days of the Banca del Suono. In this scenario, seven human lives (and a dog) intertwine, alternating comic moments with moving situations.
