The Rathaus facade comes alive

On 12 May 2023, Imaginarium created the video mapping for the opening concert of the historic Wiener Festwochen, a multimedia arts festival spread across various venues in the city of Vienna. A concert that was almost a theatrical performance, with the artistic direction of pianist Hyung-ki Joo.

On stage, classical music, beatboxing, pop and jazz, dance, aerial acrobatics and street art merged together. On the monumental facade of the Rathaus, Imaginarium projected a large-scale video mapping that reacted in real time to the energy of the show, creating a dialogue between the live performance and the neo-Gothic architecture of the Viennese city hall.

A project that brought Imaginarium's visual language to the heart of the European cultural scene, before thousands of spectators gathered in Vienna's Rathausplatz for one of the most anticipated opening nights on the continental arts calendar.
